
IMS/DC Application Programming

Description
This course introduces the student to the concepts of Data Communication in IMS and covers the Programming components necessary for
coding on-line programs.
Designed For:
- Systems analysts.
- Application Programmers.
- DBAs as a first stage of their training.
Pre-requisites:
- COBOL or PL/I programming experience.
- Program Edit and submission knowledge.
Objectives:
Upon successful completion of the course the student should be able to:
- Write a typical Message Processing Program
- Describe the differences in conversational programs
- Describe the useful facilities of IMS DC
- Write and test a simple PSB
- Use BTS to test an MPP
- Code and use simple MFS
Contents:
- Message flow and scheduling
- Programming to access Message Queues
- Introduction to MFS Coding
- Conversational programs
- PSB coding
- Testing
