IMS/DC Application Programming

Description

This course introduces the student to the concepts of Data Communication in IMS and covers the Programming components necessary for coding on-line programs.

Designed For:

• Systems analysts.
• Application Programmers.
• DBAs as a first stage of their training.

Pre-requisites:

• COBOL or PL/I programming experience.
• Program Edit and submission knowledge.

Objectives:

Upon successful completion of the course the student should be able to:

• Write a typical Message Processing Program
• Describe the differences in conversational programs
• Describe the useful facilities of IMS DC
• Write and test a simple PSB
• Use BTS to test an MPP
• Code and use simple MFS

Contents:

• Message flow and scheduling
• Programming to access Message Queues
• Introduction to MFS Coding
• Conversational programs
• PSB coding
• Testing
